ADD Treatment | |||||||||||||||||
The device I have through of caters to the ADD community as well as anyone looking to increase efficiency and productivity. The device would consist of a vibrating bracelet or anklelet, which could be worn wherever comfortable. The purpose of this device is to help the user stay on track in whatever endeavor they are currently engaged in. Here is an example of how I would personally use the device: I have a difficult time focusing during my college lecture course and I often find myself thinking about a million other things besides what is going on in front of me. The purpose of my device would be to have a constant reminder to pay attention. Every 5,10,15,20,30,45, or 60 minutes I can get a vibration to tell me "are you on task?". I feel this constant reminder would help me both stay on task and become more productive and efficient. This would obviously only work for those proactive people who are looking to regain control of their lives, but I think that there is a large market out there looking for something simple like this.

So, how does it tell you what task to concentrate on?
I'd like to have have constant reminders all day that I should be relaxing in some far off banana republic with an ice cold beer, rather than deal with -30 wind chill and blowing snow. Hmmmm. . .Maybe that's what the -30 wind chill is supposed to remind me of.
Pilsner;
You wouldn't have the vibrating feature on all day. Say you're about to start a project at work or for school you would set the timer for whatever interval you thought was necessary. The vibration is a trigger for you to check whether or not you are on task. It wouldn't control your thoughts for you but rather would serve as a reminder that 1. Your mind wanders and 2. You should be working or concentrating on a certain task so if your mind and actions are somewhere else it will remind you of your original purpose.
Although I doubt it would be useful generally it might help a tired driver keep awake on a long trip.
