Why not create a website where all the issues associated with a candidates political position, not the candidate, are shown, linked, and cross-referenced so that everyone knows the interrelationships of every line-item in every bill. Every proposal regardless of who proposed it. The consideration given each and the support that the public offers it.

Then we as a people and our secure government card vote on each and every issue that concerns us.

The candidates historical votes are listed under there names.

The candidates voiced position on future issues is posted under their name (linked).

And we as a people vote for candidates based on their historical performance, not their media facade, not their vague rhetoric, not their personalities. Voting based upon their historical performance.

Punish any politician by law for making public appearances in any media.

That's doable. Companies put much more information than that into databases. But who would manage the website, and how would it be funded? Product Advertising? Contributions?

I agree totally. Government is supposed to be for the people. We, the people should be able to vote for every issue in Congress. Now that we have the www, it is time for a total makeover of how the government is run.

man...i was just about to post the same idea...i think it should kind be like a social networking site...not so much social networking, but with profiles of all public officialstheir bills, past and present, links to actual documents being discussedreal life polls on each bill, i think we have a beautiful means of communicationnowadays and this would be a great way to kill the disconnect between people and their governments, forum, suggestions, no more hiding or spin, only accountability and progressof all the websites its amazing this hasnt been instated yet.i dont think you could make everybody join, but if they didnt you could definetley suggest that theyve got something to hide!

the only problems would be threats and copycat websites blurring the source

accountability.com !!! transperency.com!!! something like thatgood stuff james

I hate all the people that support a candidate and they don't even know what they are supporting. Like Hillary Clinton, she was in a position to have instated national healthcare, and things were moving well; until she received a multi-million dollar payoff from health insurance companies. Then everything stopped. She can't be trusted, yet she is close to being a Democratic candidate for President. People vote based upon who can lie to them better, even when the evidence is clear. We need something to remove the mask of deceit from politics.

I like the concept, but bills are often complex so I would add the politician's reason for voting a specific way on the bill.
