What about having cars with sensors which can detect if there is any other car nearby trying to backup/park near by. In other words, if the car is parked and you leave the car, but somebody is trying to park/backup from a nearby space, and is about to hit and issues a warning signal from either by flashing lights, or a horn or some of warning signal. And the intensity of signal is dependent on how close the car is by. And these sensors are two way..so both sensors could universally be handshaking to understand how close they are!
