Vehicle Signature | |||||||||||||||||
I believe that new cars should have an embeded signature that stores all of the owners insurance information. This could be used in a number of ways. The best way I can see it that it would eleminate hit and runs. Obviously this is something that will only work once all cars have this feature. Probably 20 years or so. What will happen is if your car comes in contact with any other vehicle, your car will automaticly exchange insurance information with the other car. Sensors and processors could be programed in such a way to determine speed and direction and could determine, based on the two vehicles, who was at fault. This would probably involve a complex program to work, but it would take the guess work out of the equation for the police who has to rely on witnesses. Better yet, if the person drives away, their insurance provider will still be notified and an adjuster will examine the vehicle data.

And every time your car bumped into a tree or got whacked by an open palm from a kid with a sense of humor your insurance company would be notified. A nice way to start a cyber space avalanche.
