There could be a light facing to the left side, mounted flush with the front of the vehicle, that could flash an alternating white and yellow (or some other distinct pattern) when the driver wants to make a U-turn. It could be activated by a button on the turn signal lever when a left turn signal has been selected.

There could also be a flashing yellow inverted U on the rear bumper, inboard of the left tail lights, when this function has been selected.

The whole arrangement can of course also be made to fit the vehicle's right side, for vehicles in the Commonwealth, Japan, and other areas where you drive on the left.

Making a U-Turn is only legal when there is no traffic coming either way and you are in a straight section of the road. If vehicles were close enough to see your signal, you would not be allowed to turn in the first place.
