Polar cities for survivors | |||||||||||||||||
If global warming gets bad, in 500 years or so, we might need "polar cities" in northern areas and in Antarctica to house survivors of catastrophic climate change, if worst comes to worst. See images and a brief discussion here: And then tell us what is your point of view about polar cities, or such human population retreats, whatever they are eventually called, and whether you think they might be needed or not. The New York Times recently reported on polar cities and if you google search the term "polar cities" you will find over 4000 website discussing the idea in a variety of languages worldwide, from English to Chinese and Spanish and Japanese, among others.

Do you think our time would be better spent coming up with ways to make global warming seem more real to the average joe?
Well, Wizard, good comment, and yes, we need to find ways to help make global warming more REAL to people, so they take action NOW against it. You are right. My idea of polar cities as a PR tool, with images, is the exact same thing: I want to use the visual images to wake people up to the reality of today, I am not really interested in creating polar cities in 2500 or so, we need action NOW so that polar cities never come to be. So i agree with you. NOW do you see where I am coming from with this? I guess I was not so clear at first.
