If forwarding an e-mail to all of your friends could lower gas prices, I think this non-traditional boycott could do it. The theme of the e-mail: Find out if anyone you meet is an energy trader, and if they are, treat them like a leper until they find a real job or can prove to you they are short the market.
If you look at when energy prices took off, it was after the .com bubble burst and the VIX index was too low to make money on Wall Street. Traders switched to commodities, CNBC followed suit, and "greater fools" started bidding up commodities like tech stocks or tulips. However, I believe relationships (sex) are a higher need than money.
