NEW LAN CONNECTOR | |||||||||||||||||
Why has no one thought about a efficient LAN connector?.We want to stick on to a RJ-45 lan connector for ourCat5 cables inspite of all its demerits. Most of the timethe crimping is defective. The RJ-45 sockets wear out fast.Why not have small round 8 pin din connector? A simple anda secure way of fixing a cat5 cable to these din connectors.I understand that the RJ-45 connectors are cheap and it would notbe economical to fix a 1 dollar connector to a 5 dollar networkcard. Imagine the amount of headache it would save you/yourcomapny and the saving in networking expenses to theenterprise.

A much needed idea - but I am a big fan of two words - "Secure Wireless"
DIN connectors are harder to field install than RJ45, and are more costly for the fittings, especially for the locking ones.
I have already said that the din connectors do not justify thethe cost for a cheap lan card. They are costly and not field friendly.My concept of a din connector is - it should field friendly and cheap.
1: RJ45 is a well established standard and does work well.2: most computers stay in one place for their useful life. 2b: For those that get regularly moved around, yes, wireless is an option.3: A $5 network card would become a $20 card (due to economies of scale)4: Patch cables would also be more expensive.5: IT would have to stock both sorts of cables, and know which one to bring with them in case of trouble.
Most of the Rj45 connectors in the market are the cheap Chinese typeswhich hardly last less than 50 plug in and plug outs. We do not haveany standards for a Rj45. We do not yet have a standard to connecttwo lan cables. The Rj45 sockets are of a very poor quality. We needa proper connector, inter- connector to connect two lan cables. Thecomputer industry should come out with a cost effective reliableconnector. Just imagine the millions of net working man hours wasted from defective Rj45 connectors.
Don't buy cheap RJ45 connectors then, buy the good ones. Spend more on your network cards and devices to get good RJ45 jacks on them.
