Car radio/IPOD/ITUNES sync | |||||||||||||||||
Here's my problemI'm always driving in my car and hear a song on the radio that I want on my IPOD. Most times, I don't have a pen handy to write the song down or they just don't mention the name of the artist or title. If all goes right and I do get the info then I inevitably don't remember to download it later. Here's my solutionA button on your head unit that records the name of the song and artist and sends the information to your IPOD or Itunes account. Or, sends an email or text message to you reminding you to download this song. Here's some obstaclesObviously, current laws are tightening and I can't imagine anyone allowing you to directly download songs from the radio directly to your IPOD without receiving their share. Additionally, cars would have to be wired to the internet to send you an email, but if onstar can do it why can't my radio do it! Text messaging may be viable, not sure how the radio frequency works if that would be able to trasmit a message to a phone line but more feasible than music executives allowing instant downloads of music. So tell me what you think. Is this a good idea, can anyone forsee this happening? How long until the technology catches up to my idea?

I am new to this site and this is my first post for an idea. I just went through an hour or more worth of archives and found this idea has been kicked around before on here. So I guess I'm not the only one with this idea.
Already exists - I'm from Houston and they advertise HD Radio heavily here. There are products that allow you to collect the song information on your ipod when listening to HDR. It would be cool if a regular radio could store this information.

IMO, it might be too late for the American market.
The broadcasters would need to implement RDS, and the radio manufacturers make RDS event loggers.
