Car Generator | |||||||||||||||||
OK, I've read all the bunk about why you can't install wind generators in cars, but I'm still not satisfied. So here's one for all you brainiac's to ponder. In 8th grade I built a true wind turbine, not a windmill, but more similiar to a jet turbine. Won first place on it by the way. In appearance it was close to the housing of a transmission in any car, large in the front to capture max air intake.Now take that and combine it with a grill that would act as a louver when driving that would restrict flow into it when speeds get excessive to slow the generator RPM's. Now if you dont think it would be effective or attractive to prospective or potential customers, think of this. Go look at the corvette they converted into the Batman car that has the turbine sticking out of the front of the car and how sharp that idea was. I built a mockup using a home made wind generator in a remote controlled car. Anybody want to guess the difference I had between the original remote controlled car's battery life with the generator disconnected and what it was with it engaged??

I doubt any sensible comment indicated one could not build a wind generator into a car. But the energy gained by harvesting the wind from car movement is taken from the resistance of the car moving through the air. It is not free energy. It is powered by the energy taken from the fuel which enables the car to move.
