Low tire alert | |||||||||||||||||
Most of us know if a tire is REALLY low by looking at it. But the loss of fuel economy is also bad if the tire is just 5 pounds below recommended pressure. But that is much harder to notice. So here's my idea. A tire stem with a small, pop-up reading on it, that pops when the tire pressure goes below a certain point. You set the warning amount of air (say 28 on a tire that is supposed to be 32). If the air pressure in the tire drops below 28, then the very top of the stem pops up, alerting you the tire needs air. In terms of technology, we might need to have pre-set stems for different tire pressures. I'm not doing a good job of explaining it, but I can see it in my mind.
