Play Equipment at Airports | |||||||||||||||||
As a frequent traveller with children - I do not understand why it is not standard procedure at major airports to have a cafe/children's play area, side-by-side (sadly the only reference that comes to mind is McDonald's on the roadside of every major highway). I have been delayed at millions of airports with my kids and wished to see a place where I could eat/drink and entertain my kids at the same time.

Sounds like a really reasonable idea to me. I suppose the liability and the space it takes up are likely problems.
Just figure out a way to prevent even one would-be kidnapper from escaping to any part of the world. Not saying I don't like this idea, but entertainment and safety don't go hand in hand.
Maybe space could be found in the little-used chapels that are maintained in lots of airports for use by relatives of survivors after an airplane crash. If this isn't done officially, then at least delayed travelers with children could seek them out on their own and make use of them. (As long as no one wanted to use the chapel for its regular purpose.)
