Government's Medication Patent | |||||||||||||||||
In order to block medication company's from abusing their position in distributing and marketing their product. Why not allow the government to have some ownership of the patent just to make sure that the public are using the medication appropriately. Annually the government could have an examination if the drug is suitable for people when it gets developed every time.

why would I ever invent something if I don't get to own it. If you invent something it's YOURS. New technology, new drugs, and the vast majority of new inventions occur where capitalism allows the inventors to be rewarded. A patent is only good for 17 years--just wait it out.
Why should the goverment benefit from my intellectual property?
Why do you believe the (US) government would be capable of reviewing every drug? Do you know how much that would cost? The same goverment that approved Thalidomide?
Nearly every drug kills people--people even die from cosmetics. What would the standards be?
Keep the FDA for initial approval, but otherwise, let the people decide. Caveat Emptor
A government doesn't have to issue a patent in the first place. And even though it does put every drug under scrutiny (what else do taxes pay for?) there are still mistakes, oversights, and unexpected consequences. The real problem is when an aggressive company continues to push its product even in the face of "setbacks".
