Cellphone two way radio | |||||||||||||||||
Why not have a two way radio built into a normal cellphone. It could have the two way radio built on to the cb band or the FRS channels. It would help you keep in touch with your family, help your self to small errands in the house without escalating your phone bills. When your beyond the reach ofthe two way radio you could use the cellphone functiuon.

I think this has already been done. My brother-in-law uses something like that for his business.
I have not yet come across a 2 way radio built into a cellphone,we do have FM radio and mp3 players built in. Most probably yourbrother-in-law uses a group calling system in his cellphone.
Actually, pep, Nextel made their name here in the US by offering the two-way radio phones. It didn't count against your minutes, back when we all cared about minutes.
I know that service people used them in train-yards and they were really convienient because you didn't have to dial. They do have the disadvantage that they aren't nearly as efficient as the phone, so when in radio-mode the batteries don't last nearly as long esp. transmitting.
I think these might be some of them:

Now that Sprint and Nextel are one company and minutes are cheap, I don't know if this continues to be popular.
