there are tonnes of kids shoes that light up on impact, making them visible for night walking, i assume this is your point, but as far as i know there arent many for adults, and i agree that they would be good for this, also they should have a switch to turn the lights off during the day, saving batteries, and saving you from looking foolish, as they tend to look a bit rediculous

I think he meant having a device in the shoes that generates electricity like those shake flashlights. Your feet would shake the device as you run to generate the electricity. This might work, though the device in the flashlights is too large to fit in a shoe. It might be possible to miniaturize it enough to work. However, the device uses a magnet that reciprocates inside a coil to generate the electricity. Having something bouncing inside your shoes might be annoying.
