I live in New York where we have record-shattering budget deficits. Hunter College occupies close to two square blocks of the upper east side, on Park Avenue. It looks somwhat like a 20-story warehouse and is one of the biggest eyesores in the whole city. My idea is to sell the campus and build a stae-of-the-art campus elsewhere, probably Queens.

The property is worth close to a billion dollars. I believe a new campus could be built for $250 million elsewhere. Here's who wins:

-The taxpayers of New York, who could use the $750 million difference to close the budget gap.

-The residents of Manhattan, who could be rid of a hideous eyesore.

-The students and teachers at Hunter, who would could ditch their tired facility for something state-of-the-art. Also, most of the students don't actually live in Manhattan, so the campus could likley be moved somewhere more convenient for all.

If anyone loses, I don't know who it is.
