Over speed warning | |||||||||||||||||
Along a highway, every miles apart, an over speed warning (OSW)divide self power by solar are installed. The devide will turn on the radio, send a warning alam (make sure is anoying and last for 120 seconds) in side the over speed car. Would you think OSW will help to reduce the munber of over speed car on highway?

It might be more effective (and expensive) if the roads were edged with bright LEDs that would turn on in the section of the road the speeder was passing through. It would then be so obvious to the speeder, other drivers, and the cops that a speeder was operating that it might cause an immediate slowdown. Probably too expensive but it probably would be very effective.
Wouldn't this require a purpose made receiver and alarm inside the car? If so, than it would be far easier to just install a device that tells you when you're speeding by simply monitoring your speedometer. If you have a GPS navigator, it could automatically check the speed limit of the road you're on. I think most people would try to disconnect the alarm.
There's a street I know of where there's a machine set up with a radar and a big digital diplay that shows the speed of each car as it drives towards it. There is also a speed limit sign posted right next to it, so you see your actual speed displayed right next to the speed limit for all the world to see. I think it probably works pretty well, I know it encourages me to not speed there.
Or you could just install a big round gauge in the car that tells the driver how fast they're going and put signs by the road to tell them the maximum and let them decide if they want to speed.
Speeding is not the cause of a high percentage of accidents. Speeding tickets, however are the generator of large amount of public funds.
I know where one of those "your speed is" displays is and I've been trying to see how high I can get it. My car GPS records my maximum speed--I keep trying to see if I can break 150, but I can't quite get there.
Okay, those are tongue-in-cheek, but as far as I can tell, people that speed know that they are and they do it anyway. At least that's the way it is with me. I don't see it as causing harm to anyone.
Very few people speed by accident. Most people who are speeding know they are speeding and don't care till the blue lights flash. Case in point is Hrech, who knows hes doing 150 and wants to go faster. I like going faster to, and have only topped 147mph. But it wasnt like, "Ow my, i think im accelerating over a 100mph. How peculiar." lol
I agree with Dwane: let the 'surrounding' tell the car how fast it may drive (is not difficult). And in addition I would implement a thing which makes the car that it cannot drive faster. We gulabeled such a concept 'GuidCar' (Guided car). Gulabel = Global Unique Label. You CAN drive faster, but than this is automatically gets send to a traffic control system, which emails you the day after why you drove too fast. The only reason may be an emergency (get somebody to the hospital or so). When you have no good answer (and that will be checked frequently), you have to pay.
Advantages:- no more speed 'bumpers' (little hills in the road) necessary- we can get rid of the jungle of speed signs- far less violations- less stress- etc.
In addition (the posting about intelligent traffic lights triggered me):- no more traffic lights are required- much more fluent traffic- etc.
Off course future music, but imagine that we already have the techology available to realize this, so why not???
In addition: this message might give 'freeriders' the creeps: in nights, now you can drive at a far too high speed over the highway. Just break for the one or two control sensors, and than, hatsa, there we go again (stupid concept, thinking that local, often known, sensors reduce overall speed or safety).
But also for these people this might be a solution: the traffic control system notices that there is no traffic on the road, and thus increases the allowed speed. The bottom line should be: as long as you do not endanger others and can pay for the damage you might do to the road and environment (gas, noise, etc), drive as fast as you wish.
