touch screen drive thru order | |||||||||||||||||
how about a touch screen menu to order your food in the drive thruso you wont have trouble trying hear what they are saying on the intercom or some times they get your order wrong because they didn't understand you. you just use the screen to order your food how you want it then submit and it will give you your total and you drive to the window

Of course, you would have to design it so that the drivers could reach all the selections on the menu from their car's window. Maybe it would be easier to have a trackball or mouse or something. You could even use the same method for ordering at the inside counter, but then all those high-school kids would lose their jobs.
Once I was at a high-school event and the staff had accidentally left the pop and candy vending machines on. There was this big-long slow line for the window where the kids were selling food and drinks, but a very fast-moving line in front of the machines. It seems to me that machines are better at some things than people.
Yes, I know that the machine can't smile at you or say 'thank you.'
If I'm going through a drive-thru I'm almost certainly planning to eat my meal in the car, probably with my hands. In that case I have no way of washing my hands; and I would hate to think that I just touched something that hundreds of others have just touched. Portable hand sanitizer would help, but still... ICK!
