Voice SMS Built Into Your Car | |||||||||||||||||
It would be a great safety feature if your next car could use voice recognition and bluetooth to "see" your mobile phone or blackberry in SMS mode, and you could then send and recieve text messages in your car. You could see their SMS directly on a digital readout in center console and have a "text-to-speech" option that would learn SMS abbreviations so you could keep your eyes on the road.

Why not just use voice mail? Reading text messages while you're driving would force you to take your eyes off the road.
Possibly, except the person on the other end or the conversation might be in a situation where they aren't available to talk, like in a meeting or class. If you did want to switch to voice, you could program your own command to notify the other party and make the switch on the fly.
