Shared taxis from supermarket | |||||||||||||||||
Occasionally I get off my butt and go to a supermarket rather than ordering on-line. For those of us living in societies not totally dominated by the car, why does the supermarket not arrange shared taxis to save customers lugging heavy shopping home on foot. Then the customers would not be limited in their purchases by what they could carry. A fee of £1 or £2 would be cheaper than on-line delivery charge, and cheaper more environmentally friendly than a taxi by oneself.

Why not just go to the supermarket with a neighbor? Then you're guaranteed to have a taxi share home. Maybe this is a good function for the neighborhood association.
