Y'know how an electronic thesaurus (like MS Word) only gives a few options for what you mean? And if you want a different word you have to pick which meaning you want, and then which word is closest, and then look at its synonyms? Why Not have a thesaurus that lets you write five words or so that are "close but not quite right", and then it consults an index of which words are synonyms of all/most of those words. Then you can have a list of synonyms that is more useful and closer to the meaning you actually want.

I use the book "Roget's International Thesaurus" published by Collins which is far more extensive than the electronic Word software and still I find I am writing in missed possibilities with my limited vocabulary. I suppose any useful modification would be helpful.
