When I do work around the house or garden I am frequently forced to use multiple electric extensions to reach the point of use of an electric accessory. It would be nice if there was a modified plug and socket design so that the two could be firmly locked and not separate when there is tension in the line. Barring a plug and socket redesign there could be a bridging clamp that would be a firm lock but could be quickly and easily snapped on or off. I know the usual solution is to knot the line over the socket join but this is clumsy and uses up length.

They make plugs and sockets that can be locked by twisting them a few degrees. These would no doubt work for your purpose, but you would have to assemble the cords yourself. You would also have to install the sockets, which would not allow you to plug in regular plugs.
I think I have seen add-on gadgets designed to secure two plugs together, but that would be a hassle to use.
I just noticed that there is a locking extension cord on the page in the link above. I don't know how it works.
Standard North American cords have holes int he the prongs, which are held in by detents in the socket. Those locking cords have a retractable pin which goes through the hole.
when i have this problem, i tie the cords together
