(I've found that there are others on the internet with this idea, or similar ideas. No one really seems to be acting on it.) Home gym equipment that act as electricity generators tied into the home's electricity that put energy back on the grid. The more you work out, the more you save on your electricity bill. You could also extend this to active video games for kids. Of course if public gyms did this, they might not ever have to pay an electric bill again.

It not that is isn't technically doable, it is simply not economically practical.
As a matter of home equipment, it would be more viable to market equipment to users willing to pay a higher cost. But I would believe that given a bit of engineering, and some basic thought, all the products and priciples are in place in the market to create simple electric producing motions through the use of gears and pullys. I have been toying with this idea for a while.
