Wiper for inside of windshield | |||||||||||||||||
How about make windshield wipers that run off the same motor but wipe the inside of the windshield glass aswell? They would basically move in step with the ones on the outside so would not obscure the view any more than the outside ones do. They would wipe off the annoying fogging up/steaming on the inside of the windshield that can happen depending on weather conditions, humidity etc. They could be activated by, say, moving the normal wiper swtich an additional notch so you could just give one wipe or leave them on all the time.

Warm air blowing on the inside of the windshield would probably do a neater and less obscuring job.
Yeah...only first thing in the morning when its very cold, car has not warmed up and takes some time to do so. Therefore, no warm air is available for a while and this is when the problem of fogging up the windshield is worst (for me anyway)
This might work, but I would suggest that you try to prevent your windshield from fogging up in the first place. If you turn off your heater and open your window about one minute before you get home, it will allow the humidity to escape from your car. This is dramatically reduce the amount of fog on your windows. Of course, you'll get a bit chilly, but only for a minute.
The people who make Rain-X make a product that is great for preventing moisture from forming on the inside of your windshield. When you clean the glass every few months (you are cleaning the glass every now and then, right?) you apply the anti-fogging solution and you're good for another few months. It works on bathroom mirrors as well.
I get off work at 1:00am and my office parking is outdoors, so on cold and humid nights, I get off work to find all the windows completely covered by condensation. Simple removal:
- Run fan at high speed, aim towards windshield, heat up all the way, and A/C compressor on. It won't blast warm air for a few minutes because the engine will be cold, but it'll keep the windshield clear. Use wipers as necessary.
- Rear defroster on.
- Open and close all windows with power window switches. The rubber weatherstripping at the point where the window enters into the door cleans that stuff right off.
A soft brush might work, but only if it needed no lubrication. Inside wipers might hit other inside items... and since its easier to manually wipe inside than outside... I'm not sure if this is worth it.
