A hanlde that has a sensor built in underneat the handle itself for suitcases. When you flip a switch on the hande the handle can be pulled upwards and the weight shown on a LCD display. No more pay for excess luggage. Only one sensor is needed and the handle could be standard size so you can put it in your old suitcase.

You wouldn't be able to put in in most old suitcases because they don't have any standard handle size. But, as a feature for new suitcases, it's a clever idea and I think it could sell.

Dwane Anderson, Dec 04 2008

I think this would be a good application for a spring scale, so you'd never have to goof around with batteries. Cheap too.

Seems simple enough, I'm surprised (if) it doesn't exist now.

hrench, Dec 05 2008

It would need calibrated at the bare minimum, and if it is to be used for commercial purposes, tested and certified by a weights and measures agent.

The actual scale at the airport will be officially calibrated, tested, and certified.

IMHO, it would be nicer to have a public scale for passengers to test and prepare their luggage before they check it. The public scale could be free or coin operated. It could also be commercially calibrated and certified.

I love it, no batteries springloaded like the man said. But not a scale on all handles -just a device that attaches to a handle to check weight before you leave the house.

The springload will chime at 30 pounds - and gunk at 50 lbs or whatever the limits are for that flight.

JJOECLARK, Feb 03 2009

This idea has already been developped. I saw such a device in an in-flight magazine last summer, on Air France I believe.

Well, i searced the market before writing here and I also applied for patent. There was a suitcase with the sensors over the wheels. Mine is in the handle so its easy to install for factories. I have a factory making this idea now in China and my friend from Bangladesh is boss for a small (400 workers) factory, and he placed the first order. Im not sure ill become a billionere, but then again, I do not care about money much. If i can sell whatever I have developed, that is a great revard itself. If i can make money on it, i will donate some money to websites like this.

Niklas, Feb 23 2009

That's fantastic! It's nice to see an idea posted here actually going somewhere. Good luck!

Dwane Anderson, Feb 27 2009

When u have this made ,please let me know what your giving them away for. Since money does not matter to you. Please refrain from making wild remarks ,Like "money dose not matter to me" or "Its for the children".People are in business to make money, to turn a profit. The bonus is that your idea helped employ fathers and feed honest men and their families. Do it for that Recycleur,

JJOECLARK,

Luck is an important part. Also even though i have a kid all my money does not have to stay there. I myself do not like egoistic smucks. I license my patents for a dollar a piece, that includes royalties.

If i sell 10.000 (witch i already got order of) i get break even on this one. If i sell 40.000 PCS, it actually pays me for my input in this.

If it pays me more, i make money! That is the way i see it.

World is not only me, that is why im generous if i can help out someone. Also, people has been real mean to me. But i also have people being good to me, really good. I like to continue the good, if im able to do so. But sure, you see me in a Porche if i sell 1.000 000 PCS. I earned it!

We have developed a Selfweighing Suitcase that weigh's it self it has a LCD digital scale located in the top of the case. All you have to do is pack your case and lift the handle and it will give you a reading in pounds or kilos. These cases were featured on Channel five's gadget, show who discribed them as so simple there genius. To view a demonstration visit our website on www.ecosuitcases.co.uk

EAMONN OCONNOR, Mar 16 2009
