The reason for having a device, such as a remote, talk to you would be to give you info that you couldn't otherwise get. However, your TV remote already gives you all the info you need by displaying it on the screen. The TV screen is a great output device for delivering info to the viewer. A talking device would be more worthwhile for a device that doesn't have such a convenient video output, such as a phone. I suppose I should post that idea separately.
