I had this idea that if nudest, and old people can create rules to govern who lives there, why not create good communities for familys and children.

Lets make a community where the main rule is, "No Drugs Allowed." It means what it says. You cant even move in till you get drug tested, then you can opt to buy a house. And, if someone sees you with it, or you get chosen for a random drug screening by your HOA who is suspicious, and you test positive, then they drag you before a commity, and vote to have you banished.

That would insure, at least 90% that drugs would be free, and you could have a better, safer community.

Hey, this could even lead to other types of Selectable communities, like blondes only, or people with the name Bob. lol

Or communities to exclude minorities.

No one in your community would ever be able to get a headache. Aspirin and ibuprofen are drugs too, you know.

Hyenuf, Jan 15 2009

As is coffee, tea, alcohol, anti-cholesterol pills, anti-acid pills, penicillin, etc. Even computer games can be addictive.

sand, Jan 15 2009

If you really wanted to go as far as race Sand, you could. That would be your community as you like it, and it might be possible with current laws. I'm talking about banning things like, Marijuana, Cocaine, LCD, Crystal Meth, Speed, Angel Dust, etc. Not Tylenol, or Ibuprofen, but harmful things people whack out on, and go kill, and rob others for. It would be a town kinda like Celebration, or for those of you who don't live near Orlando, think of Mayberry with upgrades.

What would be wrong with living in something like that?

MadJay, Jan 15 2009

As a supporter of ending the war on drug, I see this as a step in the wrong direction.

Dwane Anderson, Jan 15 2009

Madjay, those things are already banned now. The only thing you're introducing is government sponsored drug testing. (or 'community sponsored,' which can be a sort of government).

We all know from sports news that drug tests can be beaten by people that need to beat them.

Also, I value privacy--a drug test could also determine whether I use prozak or viagra. Or it could go so far as to be a DNA test--if they see that I have a family risk of some disease, then again, my privacy's been compromised.

Finally, I do believe that in the protective association that we call our country, we all need to intermix. This association is how we determine 'us' and 'them' if we fight a war or if someone attacks us. If our 'us' is divided, we make a poor country. So I'm very against intentionally segregated communities, even segregation of druggies and squares (the rest of us).

We just need to legalize drugs and let those people snort themselves into their coffins and be done with them. Druggies seldom succeed in life.

It could and probably would be a dividing point in the society, and could even turn ugly pending who gets the power to decide. I guess like communism, even a well intentioned idea is ultimately destroyed by the people with power in the end. So how do we find our May Berry? Or is it just a show after all.

MadJay, Jan 16 2009

Very small towns tend to have low crime rates, even if they have lots of druggies. I live in a town like that my self, but unfortunately, it's growing larger quickly.

Dwane Anderson, Jan 16 2009

I think that the rick will be all in one community and the poor will be in slums if that happens. Mostly I believe discrimination will happen as a result of this and what will happen to people who don't have moeny to buy a house in teh community? anyways good idea though

I've been in cities that have signs declaring, "Drug Free School Zone", and I've had to wonder, "As compared to what?"

Pilsner, Feb 02 2009

Okay, You're on a good track, but there are some holes. First of all, you need to define "drugs". Also, this is dangerously close to segregation with your joke comment "only blonds" or "Bob-town". You can't just make a neigborhood with [blank] only. Maybe seniors can get away with it, because old people can do what they want. Nudests usually have their colonies on private property. I don't know, but I just don't see this idea being successful.

The distinction between food and drug is blurry. Wine is a drug. Refined sugar is also a drug, and it causes much more damage than marijuana. Refined sugar is leading to an explosion in developing countries of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and tooth decay.
