Glove phone | |||||||||||||||||
Considering that cell phones are getting so small and the standard habit is to press the buttons with the thumb it should be possible to make a cell phone in the shape of a glove with the screen in the palm and the buttons placed on the inside of the four fingers in easy reach of the thumb. That would make it very convenient to use the phone but the phone might get in the way of other uses of the hand. Nevertheless it might be useful for some people.

Would you put a mic in the pinky and a speaker in the thumb? You could use the "call me" hand gesture for real! ;) I suppose you probably intended to use an ear bud, which would be more practical of course.
It would be easy to use in situations where you can't see. With only a little practice, you would be able to find the buttons by feel. It might be possible to construct it in such a way that the buttons are inside the fabric, making them invisible. Dialing by feel could be done subtly. It would make a cool "spy" phone.
The buttons would definitely get in the way when doing just about anything else with your hand. A possible solution might be to have an on/off button on the back of one of your fingers, maybe on top of a fingernail. When you aren't using the key pad, you could just turn it off. Then, if you press them while doing something else, it wouldn't matter. You could put some other buttons on the back of your other fingernails too, being that they're pretty easy to reach.
Another option would be to have the key pad on the back of your hand. You would have to use the other hand to dial though. You would probably want it on your left hand so you could dial with the right, if you're a righty.
There are some types of medical conditions where hand movement is possible but the patient cannot speak and the glove concept may be useful as a communication device or perhaps act to control a computer.
