I know that server space costs money and pictures can be a risk, but some of the ideas people suggest would be way-easier to understand with a picture.

I know that you can link to a picture on another site now, but most people don't have their own websites (at least I don't) so I can't link to show you my idea.

I am new to this site and right away i find it BAFFLING that this site doesnt not have a feature to show pictures...WTF!!! For shame.

You get a big "I AGREE" on this one.

The cost to host the picture wouldn't be too much since most people wont be uploading pictures of their ideas.

I totally AGREE. And by pictures, I am not sure if you ALSO meant illustrations/ diagrams. Some of the really clever ideas deserve to have supporting data, if available. You could upload the pictures on Flickr maybe and link them.
