Kid Friendly Bathrooms | |||||||||||||||||
So many public restaurants, stores, and similar public places have toilets and sinks much too high for small children. Especially while in the middle of potty training. This is surprisngly true for even many places designed for children like some Chuck E Cheese type restaurants. My five year old cannot reach the sink to wash his hands after climbing up on the seat requiring to touch many undesirable surfaces. Restaurants are required to have handicapped bathrooms but there are also a lot of children under the age of about eight that are also challenged by adult facilities. At a minimum, there should be at least a safe stool (preferably fixed in place) to access the hand washing station including soap, water, and towels, etc. It would also be nice for at least one urinal that is low enough for a 3 year old boy to use without requiring his privates to actually touch the urinal. And lastly, at least one toilet that is lower similar to ones found at home. This seems very simple and obvious but as a parent of two small boys, I dread every public bathroom visit with them. I am there to assist but I shouldn't have to hold him up to use the facilities and wash his hands every time not to mention the diminishment of their indpendant spirit.

I agree that this is a problem. Urinals used to go clear to the floor. I don't know why they don't do that now. Made mopping the bathroom easier too.
