Believe it or not, there are scientists working on it. Currently, brain implants are being designed to try to help people with brain damage or abnormalities. However, it would be possible in theory to use as a way of accessing information in a computer. Right now, the implants are only able to detect certain brain signals and use the signals to control devices, such as computers or artificial limbs. What they can not do is deliver data directly into the brain so that you can "know" it.

Even if they do develop the tech to do it, this won't really make you smart. It would however give you access to lots of information without having to study. It doesn't mean you will understand the information. Maybe someday it will be possible to do that too though.

Yeah, I wish I was smarter too. There are so many things I've known before that I relearn them all time. And my wife remembers things better than me all of the time.

I'm sure this idea will be worked on for a while, but I think it's improbable to ever work directly with the brain. The best brain interfaces are the eyes and hands, hence the internet.
