Drinks at Theaters | |||||||||||||||||
Why can't I get something at the movie theater that is both low in sugar and decaffeinated? Bottled water is boring and expensive, but it's usually the only healthy alternative.

That's why we created Honest Tea! And not just for movie theaters.
Your choices seem to be seltzer, Diet Sprite, or smuggling in something from outside.
Some theaters in the NW serve beer and wine.
This isn't just a movie-theater problem. A lot of eateries and bars give you this Hobson's choice of sugar or caffeine. I think part of the problem is that eateries want to save money by offering a short list of soft drinks, and the path of least resistance is to not offer a diet caffeine-free soda. Health-conscious people like me choose bottled water in a case like this. A lot of people don't.
The issues is more of economics and legalities. First, beverage companies such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi enter into exclusive contracts that dictate which beverages can be sold and from whom. That is why if you see Coke being sold you will also see Dasani being sold (Coke owns both). Now Coke may offer a tea but it may not be suitable for theatre environments (it may not meet the profitability requirements of the theatre or perhaps it is sold in a glass bottle as opposed to plastic or a can). The second issue is efficiency. Take coke for example: Coke, Coke Classic, Diet Coke, Caffeine-Free Coke, Caffeine-Free Diet Coke, C2, Vanilla Coke, and Diet Vanilla Coke. There is only so much room at a concession stand and the strategy is not so much to limit selection but to maximize assets. Coke and Diet Coke are market-share leaders and therefore there is a higher likelihood that a theatre patron will want that versus a tea drink.
hmmm...this question and the coinciding dates appear to be a maybe not-so-subtle way of promoting your Honest Tea, Barry! Hah!
