No bills on Sunday | |||||||||||||||||
Yes, a bill can be paid any time before it is due. But what exactly is the point of making a bill due on Sunday? Many banks do this. With computers well entrenched in the financial sector, it should be very easy to adjust due dates to the nearest banking day. There is major confusion over whether a Sunday bill is actually due the banking day before (which is as disingenuous as saying a $7 item is $6.99) or after, and whether so-and-so bank actually does Sunday transactions. What I mean is, banks should be obligated to state such terms without bullshit ambiguity, and hedge bets that they can charge extra fees as penalty for our honest confusion. Creditors have become very good at making deals in abstract terms, knowing full well that us having a poor frame of reference works in their favor. Anyone can count a wad of hard cash; no such luck with a damned stack of credit receipts. And so with day numbers affecting people who are paid by day names. Employers know well enough to pay on Fridays. How about the banks? (And while we're at it, any further bills made payable on a non-banking day should be rendered null, void, and settled in favor of the consumer!)
