First, at present, baby food ONLY comes in glass jars. VERY inconvenient for the mother on the go: you must transfer single serving portions to some non-breakable container and then schlep home the dirty container as it is not disposable. Why can't they package babyfood in travel packs like yogurt and cottage cheese? You could have a single pack (six of all one flavor) that you could just tear off a single serving as you need it, or a "meal" pack, where you get a complete meal all attached (e.g. meat, starch, veggie, fruit) in one string that you could just throw into your baby bag? It's "lunchables for babies."

What's wrong with carrying glass baby jars with you? They are handy and recycleable. A solution that involves creating greater landfill waste is no solution for me. Plus, consider the Bisphenol A health issue. You want baby food to be packaged in that? No way.
They have plastic baby food containers in my area. They are difficult to open and at high altitude, most of the baby food explodes out of the container. Also, I feel terrible that the plastic is not one that is recycled in this area where as I can recycle the glass even while on the go. Many public places have glass recycling bins. I am actually having a difficult time finding baby food in glass packages and have resorted to making my own food—toting my containers home to wash and reuse. At least I know what's going into my food and I am not contributing to the landfills.
