Leaves to Mulch | |||||||||||||||||
I want a machine that will take in copious amounts of leaves (without being jammed by such things as twigs, acorns), shred them, coat them with a biodegradeable mixture that will both hold them together and speed up decompostion, and compress them into pellets that can be put back on my beds as mulch. Over the winter, the pellets would break down into great organic material and feed my garden. No disposing of mountains of leaves. Free mulch. Less need for chemical fertilizers. Sort of what nature does, just faster.

Do you not have earthworms that will do all the work necesary (at least here in the UK) without dangerous chemicals?
Good idea in concept, but composting needs air...LOTS of air...and I believe your "...biodegradeable mixture (glue?)..." would prevent that.
Cellulose, which comprises much of vegetation, is broken down in the stomachs of grazing animals and other creatures such as termites with the aid of specialized bacteria which reside in their digestive systems. Perhaps spraying this bacteria on leaves and other unwanted cellulose material migh speed up the disposal of this stuff.
