Stair step elevator. | |||||||||||||||||
Idea comes from stair step exercise machines and the energy expended in climbing stairs and from the problem inherent in the space needed for adding stairs to a building or house: Create a person-powered elevator to save floor space that allows user to step in place to ratchet up, step in and glide down with counterbalance mechanism. Works like a stair going up and no energy expended going down. User's weight coming down resets the spring loaded stair step mechanism. User could also adjust the height of steps or be calibrated in such a way that older, weaker or children could take shallower steps, energetic folks take "two at a time".
