I often put up the "do not disturb" sign to prevent cleaning of my hotel room since they sometimes replace sheets and towels even when requested not to and I do not like the "carpet fresh" and other chemicals. This saves on towels, sheets, energy and supplies. I really do not need my room vacuumed every day. Sometimes I get calls and messages that they "missed" my room.
Why not introduce a new hang-tag for the door: Just freshen up.This would allow the staff to ensure that all is in order but they would be instructed not to vacuum, change linens or fold the toilet paper into little triangles.

Hello Alice Gast, I'm in my mid span of my life, and when I buy me a cig. they ask 4 I.D. and I thank them thinking that I look that young but do you think so !?!?!?!? I think it all boils down to getting / slap by a ticket.I hope I don't sound abrasive.....??!!??
Hi Alice.
I've seen that at a hotel. I don't remember which one.
I stayed a week and I barely spent any waking time in the room.
But I don't know that it's so important that hotels will do it--hotels are constantly trying to find ways to stand-above their competitors and not even changing the sheets isn't likely to give you the good memory that they're hopeing for. Most want to appear fancy, swanky--they get few points for cutting corners. People don't like to think they've been compromised to save a few bucks. I realize that you're probably trying to save the environment, not the money, but the method is the same.
i think that the higher priced hotels may have no interrest in this, because as said before, they want to appear to be doing everything they possibly can for you, and not ask you to save them time or money. BUT
the less expensive hotels would definitely benefit from this, it would probably cut their cleaning cost in half if they just came in and make the bed, and took the trash while you were there. I dont really like them coming in and cleaning while im there, simply because i leave my stuff everywhere, and anything they move i cant find when i return, they generally try not to touch your stuff, but it is still a pain to me, id rather just live like i do at home, clean up after myself, and maybe get the bed made, thats nice, but thats about it.
