Hello, I have been wondering about the moon's magnetic polarity if it does create a repulsion from our planet Earth. For such a long time now it has no sign of colliding on our Planet and or any moon /moons on their designated Planets. If for any reason that all statistical analysis/guess on track that this situation does exist on repulsion theory, then we can safely conclude that any material brought to either place,a possibility for Levitation can be exploited. So do you think that it is worth it to go back there to sample materials in the Moon's surface to check on prospecting Metal Elements for extraction ?!?!?

Apparently there is a typo. It is repulsive theory.

Hello Sand, thanx, and what do you think ? are the possibilities of Moon Metal can be or might have a repulsive reaction ?!?!?1, I'm just being constantly being nag by my brain if we ever get to the vehicles used at Blade Runner, if we ever in the future.

I'm afraid my sense of humor got out of hand. You are talking fantasy, as much as I admire Blade Runner.

Butterfly, you should read up on astronomy. The Moon stays away from the Earth because it is moving. Gravity keeps it from flying away. The balance between the Moon's motion away from the Earth, and the Earth and Moon's gravity pulling them toward each other, results in an orbit. Looked at another way, the Moon is actually falling toward the Earth continuously, but because of its motion, it misses. Magnetism has nothing to do with it.

The Moon does not have a significant magnetic field. The Earth's magnetic field is believed to be generated by the movement of hot molten material in the Earth's mantle (deep inside the planet). The Moon's interior is relatively cool and solid, so it doesn't generate a magnetic field. The Earth's magnetic field is really very weak, which is why magnets can't float in the air on it.

Hello Sand,Hello Dwane, thank you for the enlightenment,as you probably observed regarding to my mentality onto " What If Maybe "kinda deal,I did tried to search for gravity just today and the amounts of issues is tremendous, Dark Matter,Intriguing!!!,ad hoc, man!?!?this thing tends to suggest supernatural forces as of spiritual. A sound wave can be of cause in chain reaction towards gravity,I yet to learn more on magnetism but what I was just trying,is envisioning in the most basic logic on how to defy gravity so it be exploited on towards flotation and this is not gonna happen.Very appreciative to both of you guys, thought that I could get away with it, guess caught my hands again in the cookie jar huh?!?!

Hello humor, Metaphorical Calculation. Is it possible that scale rationalization on what if say the Earth size is four times the Moon and the Earth's magnetism is pulling the Moon on a single positive polarity and the Moon consist of a positive and negative polarity in which is distributed on a cross pattern as quarter positive then negative, with this arrangement the moon cannot escape and or collide with the Earth's and both magnetism does generate a circular motion on both planet and moon. This is just as I said a metaphorical calculation and please no biting.

Please accept my apology for my initial comment. I am afraid you are way off target in trying to understand the relationship of the Earth and Moon in terms of magnetism. It is the relative mass and velocities of the two bodies that governs their orbital configurations. Magnetism has little or nothing to do with it.

Butterfly, I take it that where you wrote "metaphorical" you really meant "hypothetical". When discussing scientific topics it is important to use the right words or people will misunderstand you. I think I understand what you were asking. You were wondering if it would be possible for a moon to be kept in a circular orbit by having the planet alternately attract and repel it as it went around the planet. If I misunderstood your idea, you will have to explain it more clearly. Anyway, if the planet alternately attracted and repelled the moon, it would not stay in an orbit. Orbits are possible because there is a balance between the gravitational pull and the velocity of the bodies. If the planet and moon alternated between attraction and repulsion, there would be no way they could establish a balance with their motion. Being that the motion is constant, to maintain a balance, the attraction has to be constant also.

Hello Sand,Hello Dwane,Thank you for the education and Dwane your right on target, just quick question by eliminating the subject Earth & Moon, would this concept be applicable to create a circular motion???Thanx again, best regards
