salted coasters | |||||||||||||||||
An old bar trick is to put a little bit a salt onto your cardboard coaster/paper napkin so that it doesn't stick to your glass when you pick it up for a drink. The salt absorbs the condensation, and keeps the coaster/napkin on the table where it belongs. How about coasters or cocktail napkins that already have a touch of salt in the center in the first place?

Actually, the salt does not absorb the condensation. It creates tiny air gaps which are enough to stop the condensation from forming a perfect seal, thus the coaster doesn't stick. Good idea, but is it worth the expense for a disposible paper product that will be thrown away soon after its first use and was given away (to the customer) for free in the first place?
Nah. Just punch a hole in it when it is manufactured.
Carve the coasters from rock salt.
If it's the seal which makes the glass stick, it's easy enough to make the coasters with a textured surface to prevent sticking.
if this works, i dont think the cost difference is going to be a problem, if they can make coasters with full color printing, they can put a spot of glue,and a piece of salt on the thing. and if it works, it could certainly be an advantage.
