An article in the NY Times today http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/09/science/earth/09climate.html?hp indicates the first inklings of the world panic when climate change becomes severe. This article finally acknowledges that terrible social upheavals will be forthcoming and concentrates on the military problems involved. But millions of people will suffer the loss of access to very fundamental needs and horrible events will be sure to come forth. The time to prepare for this inevitable disaster is now when production of inexpensive portable housing, storable foods, and other basic necessities can be manufactured and put aside and dispensed as needs arise. I have no idea how this can be financed but millions of people are now out of work and should be available to produce these desperately needed necessities for when the time arrives.
