solar powerd ac. | |||||||||||||||||
liveing in florida, it is hot in the cars, and the air vents I have seen don't do much to cool the car. but with the new solar tecnoalogy we have some one could come out with a solar powerd portabal ac unit that uses the sun to keep the car cool not only wile your useing it but when its sitting in the drive way, which is when it gets the hottest. I have seen some progres from a comp. in Astralia. and hope that it lives up to its Potential.

Walmart sells a 12-volt solar cell array (photo-voltaic) that's about 30cm x 50cm, for $67 and it produces about nine watts, 15 watts in good sun.

The average car ac system is capable of about 10K btu, or min 3000 watts of heat removal. At an efficiency of 60 percent, you'll need 5000 watts of power to remove that much heat. Three hundred thirty-three of the Walmart units will do it in direct sun. $22,000. I don't know where you'll put them, though.
