Red blinkers have been installed in back of vast majority of American cars. Sometimes it is really difficult to quickly recognize the intention of drivers, since it takes a moment to make a distinction whether such driver is slowing down or making right of left turn. In Europe the blinkers are yellow (or orange)as opposed to red stop lights, so it is much easier for the drivers behind to anticipate manouvers of the people driving ahead.Changing red blinkers to yellow could save some time on the roads and make driving smoother.

simply stated and simply done.
If your car has red blinkers, you'd have to do some re-wiring, and change the lenses on your car.
or change to a yellow bulb and change the lens.
though I've never actually experienced this problem, it makes sense.
Why not?
It seems to me I'm seeing this on the road now along with side and mirror signals,it made sense.
I've been behind a few cars with a brake light out, and mistaken a few taps of the brake for a turn signal. Yellow blinkers would definately help in instances like these.
Oh, and make the blinkers shaped like arrows.
The more I think about it the more essential this seems.
Any car manufacturer which sells the same model of car in both Europe and the US will have two alternative sets of light housings. One with orange plastic for the blinkers front and rear for the European market, and one for the US. It would be no effort for them to switch to orange blinkers for all US-bound new cars - just needs the US government to change their rules.
A friend brought a car back from the US to Europe. He had to change some things before he could re-register the car. One was he had to change the light housings. He also had to change the speedometer so it showed Km/Hr.
I agree that we need to have different color for brakes and turning indicators. Does this have anything to do with color blink people?
My daughter pointed out to me that a 'blink' is both eyes--so why don't we call turn-signals "winkers"? Hazards would be "blinkers."
