simple tow mechanism | |||||||||||||||||
A simple -universal tow mechanism to tow away astranded car. It could have suction cups ora combinatin of suction cups/ magnetic links. Even a simple mechanical device which can be deployed at a a very short notice on a high way.

What's wrong with the standard rope and hook?
What happens when you don't have the standard hook?
I think sand means, why not use a simple rope and hook as the universal tow mechanism? That is what most cars use already. Maybe they could add a standardized ring or something under the bumpers of all cars so a standard sized hook will be able to attach to them.
I agree with pepindia007 that such a thing would be great, but I don't really know how it could be done and work.
I normally drive a Mustang lately, but with the ten-twelve inches of snow we've had here, it's been difficult. The rear-drive wide-tire Mustang can almost get stuck in it's own shadow, but Ford didn't see the wisdom in putting any sort of tow-hook on either the front or the back. The only way to pull it is to climb underneath (about 5-inches of clearance on a flat piece of pavement) and get the chain or rope around the stabilizer bar. And its dark and stuck in ten inches of snow, so just to get under it, I have to shovel. And shovel. Then I'm stretching with my ungloved-freezing-hand just to wrap that chain. And still it comes unhooked.
Yes, I wish I could just stick to the fenders with suction cups or magnets, but I'm also afraid that they don't have enough structure to tow the car by and I'll just pull them off.
I do wish for an easy way. Or maybe just an air suspension to lift the car out of the snow.
