One of the major problems with modern webcams is poor docking base designs (or at least that's a big complaint of many) because they often are meant to be mounted on top of the monitor (a rather unstable place, especially for a laptop). This idea goes beyond solving that problem and opens up new possibilities for the use of webcams. If we have security cameras that have motion detectors to follow people moving in their surveillance area, why not apply this to webcams? A sort of auto-cameraman. Not only would it would it not matter where the webcam was mounted, but also would enable a single person to videoconference or make a video without having to sit directly in front of the computer.
