Lots of movies have common sets: The Oval Office, the interior of a plane, the high school classroom or locker room, a doctor's office, the interior of a submarine, etc. No matter what movie they're in, they should be realistic, accurate and recognizable. How about building these sets in a single location, then renting them out to movie/tv productions so that they don't have to build the sets themselves. You could build a very high-quality set, light it, wire it, make removable walls for different camera angles, etc, and lots of different productions could use it. No matter what the art director on a film wants, the Oval Office will still look like The Oval Office. By doing this yourself and renting out the sets, you'd probably make a killing, and save production companies money on equipment, location scouting, construction, etc.

sounds like a fun movie--The President flys to a highschool, dresses out in the locker room, ends up in a doctors office, then in a sub...
Your idea is fine--I wonder if it even may exist--but it was the juxtaposition that I found funny.
A nice idea.
It might work for notable locations/sets such as the White House, but would become annoyingly obvious for common sets such as a locker room or doctor's office to show up in a number of films.
It might be cheaper to build those sets on a soundstage and film there, rather than haul to a fixed set for hire.
Another problem would be if two projects need the same sort of set, especially for a set that would define different era or location, or it will be destroyed.
