I read an article recently on illegal logging of protected trees (I think Korean cedar) around 60 miles north of Vladivostok by Chinese lumber companies. I then thought if one could use vibration sensing equipment (4 to 6 sensors) in combination with one transponder per “guarded” tree powered by a solar panel one could in theory have trees in a 20 mile by 20 mile area “talk” to a powerful radio tower nearby that would communicate with a base station that could alert authorities to illegal logging activity (using sensing equipment) as well as the geographical location of suspected logging - like tagging trees in a forest.

Wouldn't it be better to open these areas for serious forestry corporations to commence sustainable logging instead?
Protected trees are protected for a reason. Anything that will help us protect those areas I am all for.
Bear in mind aforenoted commentor...nobody is trying to stall progress here, just maintain for the future. Don't get yourself in a wad.
