A fund-raiser compilation CD with liner notesFollowing Bruce Hornby's lead, why not put together a CD of favorite songs with brief essays illuminating important aspects of the song -- but do this as a fund-raiser? Someone within the organization could coordinate the project, asking the organization's leaders to submit their favorite songs along with a paragraph or two of liner notes explaining why the song is significant. This could work well, for example, with professors at a small college or professional school, counselors at a summer camp, department heads at a not-for-profit, etc. Other members of the organization could buy the CD if it were mass produced or bid on it for a charity auction if it were one-of-a-kind. You'd have to be sure to pay the necessary royalties to the original artists or obtain permission to use the songs for the charitable enterprise.
