Glow in the dark lane markings | |||||||||||||||||
Why not paint lane markings in glow in the dark paint? They could charge all day and make it through the night with the charge from the sun. Surely the paint could be tainted a bit so yellow was on the left and white for all other lines.

If the idea helped some users (such as cyclists), The lane markings would be of variable luminescence depending on whether the sun had shone. Sounds a nice idea in principle but adds expense for a product that is only partially reliable and least likely to work when it is most needed (long winter evenings)
I love this idea.Ever since an English (of course !) eccentric invented and made an accidental fortune from the cat's-eye, I now see they are wasting time on UK roads with mega high-tech cat's-eyes that are solar powered and even contain cameras to catch speeding drivers! Rather like a blunt pencil - pointless. This paint idea is superb - and will of course be recharged slightly by car headlights at night - like I recharge my watch hands before I go to bed.Lets hope this is taken up.
Think long term. The paint wears off with each passing car. Rain takes it to the streams & rivers. Sorry, but that's the way it is. Glow in the dark rivers would be the legacy of the person who instituted this idea. It would be right up there with Love Canal & Three Mile Island in some people's view.
