So the family will be loading up in the trusty Volvo this Thursday for another installment of "Drive to See the Family." To make the journey most expedient for all, we'll be primarily traveling via Interstate highways.

And an aside for the sake of context is appropriate here: The traveling band will be comprised of myself, my wife, a three-year-old, and an 18-month-old. So the desire for expediency is twofold: The little people want to get the heck outta the car, and the big people want to get the heck outta the car 'cause we'll be tired of hearing the little people ranting on about wanting to get the heck outta the car. Context set.

So here's the deal: We don't want to stop and play in the freaky plastic labyrinth at McFastfood's, because I'm sure some kid hurled his happy meal on the slide just 20 minutes ago. So where to play? If you were driving through my home town of Atlanta, I could inform you of several nice city parks and playgrounds that are within minutes of our three Interstate highways. So thus the idea....

Someone should create a website that stores a directory of parks and playgrounds that are near Interstate highways.

Heck, and while I'm dreaming, the directory should include directions, photos, a brief "review," hours of operation, etc. So next holiday season, I'll peruse the site and select a few choice parks to serve as timely "get the heck outta the car" waypoints along our route.

No real business model here I can see, but it would sure be nice. And it's not too tough; just a web server, a few nice page templates, a decent database design, and a bit of administration now and then. If you build it, I'll add the parks for the cities I know....
