This toilet is for a location with a small amount of regular users and possibly visitors. This could be a student apartment with 3 or 4 people in it, or a small office. I am told the idea may even appeal to regular families in Japan. The purpose of the toilet seat suggested is to ensure that every person only touches his personal toilet seat. The idea is to have a very thin toilet seat for each person for which he could choose color and texture (and you will be manufacturing those). You put all the thin toilet seats on the same hinge (in a similar way to http://www.flipnflush.com/flip.html). They stack together when attached and each has a tab that when pressed separates this specific seat from the one above it. In figure http://space.gsfc.nasa.gov/ISO9001/folders.gif or http://www.tufts.edu/cfn/images/all-folders.jpg you can see an illustration of tabs. For example, if you have five users; then on the hinge, in addition to the basic regular white seat, there will five very thin seats (e.g. red, yellow, green, blue, brown in that order). If Jim who uses the blue seat comes, he touches his tab which separates the blue from those after it (brown) and puts it down in which case on the regular seat we have now the red, yellow, green and blue stacked together. He sits on the blue. Jill that uses the yellow enters. She presses the yellow tab which releases the yellow from the green. She pushes the green up and then stacked down are red and yellow and stacked up are green blue and brown.

Very nice in theory but in practice I'm not sure if it will be worth the trouble of cleaning that many more lids. Plus, just going on the generally accepted idea that certain things flow downhill I wouldn't want to be the person with the bottom lid.

How about a dispenser, like a toilet paper dispenser, that dispenses paper toilet-seat-shaped sit-ons that are simply placed over the seat each time - they will be hygienic and disposable.Interestingly, a firnd had some Turkish workers visiting his factory and they couldn't understand why the loo was getting blocked so much. In Turkey - you don't have toilet seats as people squat - so they were covering the entire seat with toilet paper before they used the toilet - they hadn't worked out that it could be lifted !

This is a reasonable idea. I wouldn't want one myself, but I'm sure that a lot of people would.
